More Snorkeling and Finally Time to Shave

I got a good nights sleep and got up early this morning. After a very adventurous shower I waited for the sun to rise.

Looks like our neighbors are getting up as well.

It was a beautiful calm morning.

Today we would head to Komodo Island in hopes of going 2 for 2 in finding the dragons. Again it's a big island and they could be anywhere.

We again got assigned a guide and started hiking. But in no time at all we found our first dragon.

As close as we wanted to get. In 2017 some stupid tourist tried to take a selfie with one and got killed and eaten, so our guide took this picture.

We felt that we were in good hands as our guide carried a stick in case any dragons attacked. At least it was a big stick.

We pushed on and quickly ran into this active guy. It's always better when they run away from you instead of towards you.

We then spotted a meal and had high hopes.

And there was a dragon near by....

And he spotted it.....

Oh yeah, looks like he is hungry.....

Yes! This is going to be so awesome!

Well crap, I guess he was just yawning. The deer would get to live another day.

Our time was again up on the island so we returned to our boat for some more snorkeling. We went to the pink beach first.

Again the water was crystal clear.

Just a beautiful area and I wondered if there were any available plots on the island.

Nice sandy bottom.

Lots of amazing coral.

The reason this is a pink beach is because of this coral. It beaks down into tiny fragments and washes up on shore mixing with the sand and making it appear pink.

We went back to the boat and were hoping to find and swim with the giant Manta Rays. We jumped in the water and waited with the fish.

But they never showed up. So while we were lucky with the dragons it appeared our luck ran out when it came to the Manta Rays. Still good snorkeling though.

It looked like a bunch of baby sharks so I figured it was time to get out of the water.

We returned to the docks and said goodbye to our captian and crew. We would be staying in Labuan Bajo tonight at the Bintang Flores hotel. I was super excited not because it was located right on the beach but because it was named after the local beer.

Riley and I did one final beard check after which I was happy to finally shave. Riley just went and got a washcloth to remove his.

Nope....

Definitely not....

Much better!

The hotel had a nice pool right on the beach and we relaxed, talking about our favorite parts of the trip as the sun fell from above.

Tomorrow we would travel back to Bali and then fly out the following day for home. What a perfect way to wind down our travels.

We went into town to get dinner at this funky beach side restaurant with a great relaxed vibe. Riley enjoyed a very stiff adult beverage. No problem getting him to sleep tonight.
